Darlene Kulig - Gustav's Cat - 1000 Pieces
by Pomegranate
Darlene Kulig (Canadian, b. 1961)
Gustavs Cat, 2015
Darlene Kuligs vibrant, stylized paintings build on her twenty years experience as a graphic designer. The designer in me loves simple shape and bold colour while the painter in me explores light, rhythm, and personal connection, she says. As an artist, her intention is to illuminate the life force of her subjects. She takes hundreds of photographs when she travels and uses them as a basis for authentic details in her work. Gustavs Cat is from her series of paintings set in Vienna. Kulig lives in Toronto.
With subjects ranging from fine art, nature, and architecture to humour, the metaphysical, and more, Pomegranates interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine stunning images, superb colour reproduction, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzle solvers alike.
